THE FEARFUL SUMMONS

By: Denny Martin Flinn

Captain Sulu of the U.S.S. Excelsior and his crew are
kidnapped.  When Federation conducted negotiations come
to a standstill, Captain James Kirk and the former officers
of the U.S.S. Enterprise reunite to rescue their old comrade.

The officers learn carrying out their mission could prove
difficult when they encounter the kidnappers - a greedy,
little known race called the Thraxians, who believe their
way is the only way.  Now the Thraxians are demanding
super powerful weapons in exchange for the hostages.

With no other alternatives, Kirk is forced to consider giving
in to the Thraxians to save the Excelsior crew - a decision
that could save a few, but endanger the lives of an entire star system.

TREKKIEGUY'S REVIEW

This novel picks up where Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
leaves off.  It has nothing to do with the movie, but the events
in the book take place right after the events in the movie.

It really doesn't matter because it's mostly a story
about Sulu and the Excelsior crew.  Don't get me wrong, I like Mr. Sulu,
but this story didn't do much for me.  I found myself not really
caring about the Excelsior crew much and I'm really getting
tired of reading about Kirk being a "desk bound paper pusher", the
one thing he never wanted to become.

Come on, let's put Kirk back in action!
